So, now the dust has settled, it's time to take a look at just how different Ultra Sun and Moon REALLY are to the originals! (spoiler: pretty different)

To those collectors out there, here are some benefits of playing the basic Sun & Moon versions missing in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon:
• Marshadow (event)
• Original Ash Hat Pikachu (event)
• Ash Greninja (through the Sun & Moon Demo)
• 10% Zygarde dog form

Some upgrades without too much story spoilers in USUM includes:
• upbeat wild/trainer battle music
• updated Pokemon HP bar, text boxes, and no "Super Effective" suggestion on moves this time (reminds me of Platinum)
• +100 new Pokemon native to Alola region (like how Platinum, B2W2 updated the Sinnoh/Unova Dex)

Shiny hunting exclusive to USUM:
• All UB are now available in Shiny forms (note: there's only 1 Guzzlord)
• Ultra Wormhole legendaries from previous generations

Shiny-lock for both games includes:
• Zygarde
• Solgaleo/Lunala
• Necrozma
• Cosmog & Cosmoem
• the 4 Tapus

You can trade some Totem Pokemon given by Samson Oak in USUM to SM (since their code exist on the basic versions too) like:

Sun and Moon have a better interpretation of the story, I feel. If you look at Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon as a "sequel" taking place in another reality from the base games, it becomes pretty interesting.

Admittedly, I was looking for a video to see if there was a reason to pick up USUM or if they were more or less the same games. Since they weren't like Crystal, Emerald, ORAS or anything of the like, I was originally going to dodge them. Your video is actually super informative about the real differences, and while I don't think I'm interested enough of the new stuff to actually pick up a copy (Story beats are way more important to me in SM), I'm really glad there was a video to help fill me in.
