They said in an interview when they first started creating the game, there were no digital assets in the market pertaining to Chinese temples for UE5. So they literally went around all over China scanning historical temples, I believe the count was well over 60 across the whole country. So when you see a visually stunning temple (especially in chapter 3) with an absurd amount of details. That’s because it’s straight out of a historical site. Heck even the engravings can be scanned and found in scriptures and buddhist hymns. That is why it has such an insane amount of support from Chinese players, because they recognize the effort Game Science put into details and historical correctness.

After I learned about "Journey to the West, " I really came to appreciate the story. It's full of philosophy and satire. The monk Tang Sanzang is on a quest to get sacred scriptures from the West, and Wukong is there to help him. They face 81 trials along the way, each one involving different Yaoguai. What's ironic is that most of these Yaoguai are actually pets of heavenly beings, let loose because of poor management in Heaven. These Yaoguai have powerful backers, so whenever Wukong tries to defeat them, their divine masters show up to save them. On the other hand, Yaoguai without any connections or background just die with no one coming to their rescue.

There will be tourism to China coming out of the senes in the game. A total of about 40 actual locations in China were captured, 27 of them in Shanxi Province alone. After the game, seeing these location with familiar temples, statutes, mountains, will be quite epic. At the beginning of this chapter where there are various statutes lining the path - in Hangzhou, there is a mount called Feilai Feng (Flying Mount), where the paths are literally lined with statutes hundreds or thousands of years old, just like this, and next to the mount, sits the famous Jingan Temple, which also shows up in a chapter.

The game embodies many familiar details of the small stories in Journey to the West, such as the story in Chapter 3 where Goku transforms into a Buddha statue to play with monsters, always smiling, Maitreya Buddha, who is in charge of the future, transforms into an old man selling watermelons, and transforms Goku into a watermelon to lure the yellow rat wolf spirit (HUANGMEI) into eating Goku, entering his belly to subdue him, and so on. There are a large number of scenes that make Chinese people feel warm, because that is a classic story that we loved very much when we were toddlers. Although there are some character images and falsified story content, it gives a new feeling. Especially the guy Zhu Bajie, whose image and love story are quite different from the original book, but the simple, stupid and straightforward character is still so pleasing, and he always makes Chinese laugh when mentioned
