Hey there guitar friends!!! In this video, we're taking a look at the NUX Amp Academy amp modeling pedal. The fine folks at NUX asked me to check out their pedal, I said yes, and so they sent one over. As with any of the other gear on my gear, I'm giving it a fair shake, and letting you know what I think. Spoiler alert... It's a good pedal! Thanks for hangin’ out! ✌🏻

I bought one a few days ago used for $100 after watching a bunch of reviews and how-to videos. The real key is to use the software provided to "open up" the box on-screen. Once this is done the parameters are amazing! In a couple of days of foolin' around with this pedal I have set up channel A as a Blackface Fender with the three "scenes" as clean, slightly overdriven and then really open ambience. I did similar for channel B and set it up as a Marshall type British high gain amp with the three scenes ranging from pretty clean to really over driven. With reverb, compressor, and several flavors of OD this pedal does a LOT of stuff, plus all of the various speaker cab emulations. I am learning the looper/tempo side of the pedal but am certain with some experimenting and patience there's a lot there as well. Overall well worth my money!

I returned mime! The instructions (or lack thereof) to update the firmware wasted a lot of my time. Surely the supplier should have ensured he shipped item with uptodate firmware? But the deal breaker (after many hours of trying) was that I could not find ANY combinations of settings which I liked. The only use I found for the unit was as a computer interface which was insufficient reason to keep it.

You buy two of them and you have a stereo rig. If you put effect pedals and a Cabzeus at the end it might sound great in a very small size.

I bought and sold the Amp Academy. I was frustrated by the fact that I couldn't select which amp models were associated with Ch A and which were associated with Ch B. I am not a high gain guy, so I would have liked to put the Vibro King on Ch A and the Blues Breaker on CH B for example - but you can't do that. I also found that the models were harder to dial in than my Iridium (similar type pf pedal) or my HX Stomp (not really so similar). Also, MIDI is very weak, and very poorly documented. The AA has potential, but for me, it's not there yet.

Bought this 6 months ago. Started off fine, but with the never ending updates that came out and the frustration of the unit just making odd noises and unplayable. Shouted out for help from the many forums but to no avail, the send return never responded with my setup, sent it back and got a full refund. Such a shame. If it did what it said on the tin, amazing but it never worked for me. Bought a boss IR200 and with my same board setup works like a dream and never looked back! Buyers

I have this unit and im experiencing a sudden sound spike when switching scenes like from overdriven scene to clean one where the od is off.
Any tips on this?
