Elsagate: The Dark Side of YouTube Kids

welp this is elsagate in a nutshell

Back when Elsagate was a big issue, I used to watch a lot of Monster High doll reviews made by adult and teenage doll collectors. I quickly learned to avoid the Elsagate toy channels that would occasionally show up in my recommended like the plague. Unfortunately after the purge of Elsagate toy channels due to COPPA, many non-Elsagate doll or toy collecting channels are still being unfairly affected by having their videos set to made for kids or getting their comments on their videos removed against their will. Its very annoying, and its really a shame how much the YouTube bots cannot tell the normal non-Elsagate doll/toy videos/channels apart from the actual Elsagate videos/channels.

This kind of stuff is also ALL over youtube kids. I remember watching the Elsa and spiderman stuff once on yt kids when I was younger, it's disgusting. I've even seen my younger cousins watching and talking about it, they don't exactly say what happens but it's still concerning...

I wish people didn't let their kids have iPads. Children and pre-teens should not be exposed to the internet and the stuff on it till they're older. Their brains are still developing and we do not know what all this can do to them as they grow. We can sort of see it now with how some kids and pre-teens act in situations.

So glad I wasn’t reccomended any Elsagate video when it was at its peak 🙏 I only learned about it when commentary videos started talking about it, which wasn’t until right before YouTube started taking a lot of them down

luckily during the peak of Elsagate, I was mostly watching science channels. I did get those videos on my recommendation page, but I never clicked on them.

okay this is actually concerning and is a problem but I cannot take the post that brought it to light seriously when it lists all this horrific shit and then just says "transgenderism"

like way to be unserious. (plus it makes some people discredit your claim because adding transphobia to some really serious claims of grooming makes people go "Oh you're just a weird conspiracy theorist... I see.")

personally I don't think these people are trying to prey on kids. I think that instead, they just have a fetish. And they want to make content about that fetish. The only way you can get away with it is to act like it's just for kids.

I was a victim of elsagate at some point when I was younger, I think it was like smurfs video or smth which is weird until my mother caught me watching it lol
