As someone who’s in mid gen z, I remember when content like this first began to get popular. The amount of inappropriate/fetishizing content I’ve seen get recommended to me from 2011-2015 is appalling. The fact that YouTube isn’t even bothered to moderate it is even worse.

interesting how Disney is usually so litigious, copyright-striking fair use videos for adults, but somehow not these predators using some of their most recognizable intellectual property to mentally scar children on an app for kids

I was born in 2007 and thank God I watched some favorite Cartoons shows and movies that save my childhood. Like Bernard Bear, Oscar’s Oasis, Tom & Jerry, Oggy & the Cockroaches, Pokemon, and some Disney/Pixar Movies. Man Those were the days of when my parents buying me some DVDs of that movies and series for my childhood… 😢

Here’s what should be happening:
Kids shouldn’t be watching something that just anyone can make and upload. They should only be able to watch things made by official and reputable sources.

Youtube has yet to allow my content on youtube kids.

It is marked as 'made for kids" and is wholesome

however tons of "not made for kids"
Content is freely on the app!

I know other wholesome "made for kids" content creators that are not on the kids app!

We have made attempts to contact youtube about this and youtube replies with very vague responses....

There is definitely something much deeper going on...

I find it ironic that regular YouTube is more kid-friendly than YouTube Kids.

That's why I hate when people say "It's just for kids, why do you care?"

Having the foresight to know this is just mindless garbage, and it's absurd and messed up is good and all, but kids don't have that. They just see their favorite characters, and bunch of entertaining shapes and colors, and that's what they end up learning things from, what they imitate.

The fact the terminology for it has recently become "Skibidi Toilet Syndrome" just show's that parents have no clue how long this has been going on, and to what degree, and that it's inching closer and closer to a critical point. And honestly a bunch of heads in toilets, making loud noises and funny faces is some of the most tame content on the weird side of youtube.

Wish some parents would learn that the INTERNET isn't a babysitter. It's not our problem they can't and or refuse to watch what their kids do. Creators suffer for a parent's laziness and/or incompetence and there's nothing we can do because oh "ThInK oF tHe ChIlDrEn" when children shouldn't even be on the internet unsupervised in the first place.

What you said in the outro is so true! Instead of complaining, we must do our job as adults and elders to guide Gen Alpha and show them an example, like cutting our screentime, going out more often, spending more time with kids, etc.

Thank you for making a video about this. I remember being 15 and watching my 6 year old cousin and her 3 year old brother be shown this content by the mothers. They’d even repeat what the video was saying, and try reenacting it. I was so happy to watch my uncle get custody of the kids, I never felt sicker to my stomach than that very day.

[6:52] These two characters are from a Nickelodeon show called “Shimmer & Shine.” I have watched this show as kid on numerous occasions, and my little sister watches it every single day. The blue haired one is named Shine and the pink haired one is Shimmer. The boy’s name is Zac, and the yellow haired one is Leah. I have now had to watch what my little sis is watching JUST to be sure it isn’t this horrible slop on the screen.

As a late gen z (15) I keep seeing this shit along with brainrot content being viewed by my younger siblings, I try to tell my parents to keep them safe but they don't care. I hate what's happening to gen alpha
