I would recommend using a ps3 controller cause it still had the sensitive buttons that PS2 controllers used to have. What i mean is that when you press a face button you could do a gentle press or a hard press and that feature is essential to play Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 cause Kojima is a crazy man and used every feature of PS2 to make those games. If you want to know you need those sensitive buttons to do interregations to knock people out etc.

“the sticks drift” being your first reason why the controller is outdated may be the worst one. i have ps5 controllers that drift after a few months, while after 24 years my ps2 controllers are exactly as they should be.

8bitdo is the king of retro peripherals. They save our beloved retro consoles and games by modernizing the way we connect with them.
I hope they make a 8bitdo Pro 2 hall effects with 2.4ghz. Bluetooth is just painful with its latency. Its the only controller with a PS analog stick layout.

Interesting, I didn't know 8Bitdo created an adapter for the PS2. However, does not seems to support PS3 controllers, which can be an issue for games that use the Pressure-Sensitive Buttons feature. But those games are kinda rare anyway, so not a big of a deal in the end. 😅

Maybe it’s just me but for whatever reason, playing PS2 games on anything BUT a PS2 consoles seems sacrilegious.

Even with Emulation, I need to at least play with a PS2-style controller or it just doesn’t feel right

Can a ps3 controller work? PS2/3 are the only ones that have pressure sensitive face buttons that some of the ps2 games use

My PS2 controller has lasted years without drift, not to say they don't break and fuck up but like.... Just buy a new controller, they are cheap as dirt.
