Last night my father came home drunk and park the car in a way that blocked the main exit door, in the morning I have to take my sister to her school... When I told my father to park it properly so that i can take the bike out, which was inside the house... He said NO (dont go school today)... She started crying because today was a somewhat fun day at school... By gods grase i quickly got this idea to remove the handbrake and push the car to make room for the bike to exit... _this video helped me so much_

It's somewhat counter intuitive because your brain (mine atleast) naturally thinks that when to brake is down it is active, and up is inactive. Opposite with the hand brake.

One Correction, While Applying Hand brake by Pulling up, no need to Press the Button. After releasing down only u have to do.

Good video James. However May I politely point out, that some car manufacturers recommend not pressing in the release button to apply the handbrake and pulling it up on its ratchet.

Are electric parking brakes really that common? I have never used one or known anyone who owns a car with one. This is all I've ever known, makes the winter daily commute just that much more interesting.

When releasing the handbreak, if you release the button too soon will that mean the handbreak won't be completely lowered? I have an issue of releasing the handbreak but not putting it down enough. I think I am letting go of the button before it's completely down

I was Taught this On My Driving Lesson in 1976 and was told that if you don't Press in the Button when Pulling the Handbrake Up and On.! Then you will Wear Away the Handbrake Ratchet.! 👍

We bought a brand new car and i think the hand brake is not powerful whenever I'm parking the car in an uphill if i pull the handbrake normally the car is still rolling i have to pull it all the way up to the maximum to make the car stay with no movement is that normal ( sorry idk if my English is good )

So we need to press the knob while applying handbrake...i was otherwise feeling very hard to lift the handbrake
