MACBOOK M1 / M2 CHARGERS COMPARISON

preview_player
Показать описание
Comparison of Macbook Pro chargers. The M1 and M2 macbook are capable of being charged using USB-C. Macbook pro m1 have Magsafe 3 also which means you can charge using either Magsafe 3. Charging through USB-C is very good, fast and easy. The only drawback about USB-C charging is the fact that it is not as safe as magsafe. If somebody trips over your USB-C charging cable, your macbook will most likely be pulled away from your table and may fall and get damaged.

My video also describes the difference in charging power vs speed. Most people do not know you can use much lower power charger, like for example for Macbook air or for iPad to charge your Macbook Pro m1 or m2. The lower power charger works just fine. It just charges the macbook slower.

Great information. I am new to usb-c charging and wondering about these
options for my macbook. Especially the difference with magsafe. Thanks for making this video.

Thanks for the info, the power brick that comes with the M1 Max Pro is huge, I'm looking for something smaller to use when working from a vehicle or on site.

I have the same 16 inch. Even a 20w iPhone charger will charge the 16 inch when in standby mode but the real test is will it have enough power to be the power source for the Macbook while you're using it in different scenarios and the Macbook needs to draw power, or will the battery start depleting even with it plugged in. I have tried the 20w iPhone charger and the battery drops with that plugged in just with light web browsing.I'd love to know what's the minimum wattage you can use to keep the 16 inch powered during use with multiple browser tabs open and a few videos playing. I unfortunately don't have a number of chargers to test this out and can't find any information on the web about it. Most charging tests are done with a 13 inch Macbook.

This is the best way to use a Hub that is not self-powered. Some people are complaining that the Hub has killed their Macs and that is due to the way they use these Hubs that are not self-powered but get their power source from the laptop the Hub is attached to. Any device that is attached to the Hube is also now getting its power source from your computer (MacBook) as well. This is what is causing the sudden death of laptops in some cases especially if you are in the habit of overloading your Hub with devices.

Thank you. Which charging cable should I use for my 35W dual usbc power adaptor? I'm looking for the one it came with.

Will the 3rd party 100w charger compromise the battery lifespan seeing it’s not an official apple product?

I would not trust cheap charger to charge 2000+ eur device. I would say to keep it say, use only original apple or high quality. I saw some cases of non-original chargers keeling some components of motherboard. So I dont want to risk. either genuine brands like Anker, or original only in my opinion. Why risk saving 100eur and kill 2000+ eur device by accident.

exactly what I was looking for. I see my 16 is consuming approx 8w usuall, but goes up to 15 in some usual scenario (no video exporting etc, as these would draing) and my question was if I get new 35 dual usbc charger and if it will keep up with my usual usage - if 30 is capable, 35 should be too - thanks

What he is saying is all you need is the 30 watt power adapter and you don't have to use Apple's chargers. I just saved you 8 minutes, your welcome. He's very long winded.

I have seen online that many macs get bricked due to charging from usb hub, which one of the chargers would be better to prevent that?

my mbp m1 16, was heating up while charging with this 140w charger... I tested my 61w that bought with my iPad Pro during 2018 (never user it) and guess what?! my battery isn't heating up anymore and charges slow but safe. So don't use the 140w if you don't need a fast charge. Can't believe what apple is doing, sending the 140w in the box for fast charge, that brick will kill your battery easily ... they should ask first.

Whoa i did not know this, I can just buy a cheaper charger. I always keep my macbook plugged in 90% of the time anyways.
