As an engineer it's almost impossible not to be skeptical of Elon's claims. He claims he started SpaceX and from nowhere, with no formal training he becomes a rocket engineer and chief engineer no less, designing a brand new retro propulsive booster that lands on a barge out to sea. I mean that sounds so outlandish to me. I'd love to know how competent he is.

Two year ago i had job interview with Tesla. Passed all 3 interview stages, had 4th interview where we set up on salary and starting date then they demanded live contract signing and during contract signing i got email from Tesla that my application is rejected and they thank me for my time. Posted it on Linkedin, got call from BMW and i am in BMW ever since then. Thank you Musk for getting me a job at BMW with higher salary then offered in Tesla.

I saw this interview of him recently where he said "All my assembly line engineers at tesla have been working 90-100 hour weeks and I wanted to sleep in the factory to show them whatever they were dealing with, I had it worse."

Like, what? He is so weird. That is such a classic and bottom of the barrel egotistical statement. I have known people like that in my life, you start to easily recognize it.

I live in Pretoria, and I can attest that the private schools Elon Musk attended are expensive and undeniably upper class. Pretoria Boys High School is modeled on British public schools, and was founded to provide schooling for the children of upper-class colonial officials and businessmen that came to live in the city after the defeat of the Boer republics in the Anglo-Boer war.

Can't believe you're one of the few people who are willing to be critical of musk publicly. Science and technology is the best way for humanity to improve its circumstances, but techno-hype is not only harmful but distracting from for the real life-changing work being done by hard working people out there.
