Carter's was under so much pressure - World Cup final, Australia on the comeback and they had been targeting him all game with dirty head high tackles, so to hit it so well from such distance was incredible.

I know Tries are meant to be the main idea of Rugby now, but you can't deny that goals, particularly drop goals, are a more spectacular thing to watch. I kind of wish there were way more of them.

The longest recorded successful drop goal is 77.7m (85yd) by Gerald Hamilton `Gerry' Brand (b. 8 Oct 1906) for South Africa v. England at Twickenham, Greater London, on 2 Jan 1932.

Zinzan Brookes kick was amazing.
1) Semi Final in a RWC in South Africa
2) Quality opposition
3) The distance/length of kick
3) Zinzan is a No 8/Forward

Need I say more?!

I know this is international footage, but Mitch Hunt’s drop goal for the Crusaders from half way in the 84th minute to steal the game from the Highlanders will always be my favourite rugby moment, hands down

I must admit I love Zinnie's drop goal (at 5:50) because he doesn't even stop running.
Its not the most attractive kick, but 3 points is 3 points.

When I was 16, I just started to play Rugby in high school. I was No.8 but I believed Forward Player just powerful and strong at around breakdown and maul, something. However, my way of thinking was totally changed by Zinzan’s.
I couldn’t be good at drop kick though haha

Kiwi supporter here. You can't talk about RWC drop goals without mentioning Jannie De Beer 🐐 he kicked some further than some on this list.

I remember when i was about 14, effortlessly drop kicking from 45m out, watched it sail way over the posts and then the stunned look as a half dozen of my team mates turned around to see who kicked that absolute missile of a ball.

I've never kicked a ball the same way since. I don't know how i did it, or the science behind it but it was absolutely incredible.

a 14 year old, launching a 50m + drop goal effortlessly . crazy.

Dan Carter, probably one of the best number 10s in rugby history.

The kick by Zinzan won the game. He was no.8.

Zinny’s is clearly the longest ever. It was “from a million miles out” 😂

I’ve never even thought about Rugby in my life. Yet lady YouTube brought me here for some reason.

Andy Miller’s is so impressive. That game was played in Townsville, Australia. With humidity at 95% .

Chris Paterson was a truly fine kicker. I remember he went a whole World Cup, a whole Six Nations and autumn internationals without missing a single kick at goal (36). Only Morné Steyn has more with 41.
