In this video I'll describe the lactate threshold and show you how to interpret a lactate threshold graph. We'll also discuss implications for training and fatigue based on the concept of metabolic acidosis. This content comes from chapter 3 of Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning, published by the NSCA.

Lactate threshold is something that I've been interested in, especially hearing different theories about lactate and how it affects the body. It was interesting to hear that you want to train athletes as close to lactate threshold as possible to push the curve to the right.

I've always been curious about the lactate threshold so thanks for explaining it!

Dude you are the best. Thank you so much for posting these videos. You have truly been a blessing to making the book a bit more digestible as one with dyslexia and has a hard time reading for pro longed periods of time. You are truly a God send. So thank you for taking the time to do this. It means a lot.

This was a great review from what I learned in my exercise physiology class! I especially enjoyed how you included how and why it is important that the lactate threshold can be trained.

This was never something that I gave too much thought about, but the video helped clearly explain what the lactate threshold was. The real world examples with the Olympic 5K was really helpful as well.

I've never heard of the Lactate threshold or the Onset of Blood Lactate before, but it was a very interesting thing to know, and useful if I end up being a coach.

I appreciate the performance focus on your explanation of lactate threshold. It is such an interesting topic for seeing where athletes can improve.

I found it pretty cool discovering a misconception about lactate. People seem to totally misunderstand it since it is actually a valuable source of fuel! It is also very cool that you can improve you lactate threshold with training.

Watching your videos really help me to broaden my understandings on different things. For example, I did not know much about the lactate threshold and how it affects the body.

Thanks for clearly and concisely explaining the lactate threshold! I wish I had this video when I was taking exercise physiology. It was so informative, I actually understood everything being said in this video. Thanks Dr.Goodin!

Your elaboration of the relationship between the Cori's cycle and the lactate threshold was so helpful! I didn't fully realize the connection between the two, especially when considering blood lactate!

Thank you for going over lactate threshold and how the threshold leads to shifts in aerobic and anaerobic metabolism and can influence performance!

Your explanation of the connection between the Cori cycle and lactate threshold was incredibly helpful! I hadn’t fully grasped the link between them, especially in relation to blood lactate.

I've always heard about how it's important to warmup and keep the body moving to get rid of lactic acid but it was interesting learning how the lactate reserve is very important for clearing lactate but also increasing the power output by an athlete!

I really enjoyed how you went into the details about the athletic effects of the lactate threshold as it changes.

I appreciate the in depth description of the formation of lactate and its role in regard to fatigue!

This was super helpful especially after finishing your last lecture! Really interesting how when we're building stamina we are really just building a tolerence for lactic acid!

I liked the explanation about the Cori cycle as well as how you talked about the lactate threshold and moving the curve to the right

The Lactate Threshold is a new concept for me, this video gave me a great understanding of how you can create an advantage in performance through lactate levels.
