The questions they ask you throughout the interview will allow them to decide whether you would be a good fit - and when the tables are turned it will give you the opportunity to find out if you think you will be well-suited, too.
Whether you ask about the company culture, the challenges of the job role, or how they see the company progressing, it will allow both of you to evaluate whether you are right for the job.
Prove to the interviewer that you have researched the company and you are engaged. The kind of interview questions you ask will demonstrate that you can show real interest in the role and you know about what the company does, and its core values, and maybe even slip in about a few of its clients!
While it is important to ask questions, it is also vital that you do not just list 21 questions at the end of the interview. Instead, choose 4-6 questions that you are genuinely interested in… and make sure they are tailored specifically to the graduate job role you are applying for and the company.
Something that many graduates do not think about when asking questions at the end of an interview is listening to the answer!! In a high-pressure situation, particularly when you are feeling tired after a long interview, it is easy to switch off when the employer is answering.
Try you’re hardest not to do this! Because….
1. The interviewer will be able to tell if you are not listening to their answer and this might come across as rude.
2. You should have asked questions you want to know the answer to, so you don’t want to miss out on any important information… You might gain valuable insight into the nature of the job!
3. There is nothing worse than ending up repeating yourself later on! It pays to listen and really take in what the employer is saying.
