The Filipino culture is like a heartbeat I can’t live without—it's truly addictive, and I miss the Philippines every single day. I've traveled across the globe, but nothing compares to the warmth, connection, and spirit of 'Kapwa' that the Philippines uniquely holds. It’s a feeling of unity, of love, and of genuine community that I passionately share with anyone who will listen here in the U.S., though words hardly capture its essence. To my fellow Americans, it's almost impossible to describe that sense of belonging and kindness that overflows from every Filipino you meet. I find myself counting down the days, waiting eagerly for the moment I can return and immerse myself once again in the country that feels like home. Mahal kita, Pilipinas. 🇵🇭

I am an American retired in the Philippines and I can think of no other place in the world I would rather be. I married my Filipino wife in 1998 and vowed one day I would return to retire. Best decision I have ever made in my life.

Just to share my experience on how important TAGALOG for me as pinoy. When I was studying at Europe with so many international students and languages. There was this practice when somebody's birthday, everybody sing the Happy birthday in his/her own language. Na awa ako sa mga latino, dahil they sung in Spanish. Or the African nations singing in France, or German language . Then comes for the PINOYS TO SING "Happy Birthday" in TAGALOG, I FELT SO PROUD! Buti na lng we have our own language - TAGALOG! Kaya we should continue to use more often our own Tagalog. Harvard University is now teaching Tagalog too. Salamat po!

Kuya Kurt's passion for the Philippines and its culture is truly heartwarming. It inspires us all to rediscover and cherish the beauty and uniqueness of our own heritage. His positive outlook and eagerness to learn about everything the Philippines has to offer have encouraged me to reflect on my own identity and join him on this journey of discovery.

I have been watching and following Kuya Kurt's contents about Filipinos and the Philippines. But this one is something really deep. Thank you for your heartfelt thoughts and reminding us to be proud of who we are wherever we maybe. Mabuhay ka!

Filipinos truly embody authenticity when it comes to friendship. Show them respect and dignity, and you'll find that they reciprocate with warmth and loyalty. It's this genuine bond that makes relationships with them so special and rewarding!

I always tell my children, if you lose the language, you lose the culture. Even though my 3 children grew up here in Canada, the bunso was born here. My wife and I made it a strict rule that whenever they are home, they will only speak in Tagalog. The only exemption is whenever we have a non-Filipino visitor. The children can speak in English outside the house (school, with friends, etc.) but at home, Tagalog only. All 3 grew up fluent in Tagalog and English. The youngest is even tri-lingual because we enrolled her in a French immersion school. She can also speak fluent French.

I also add to what I tell them that the more languages you speak, the better the opportunity for them.

What an awesome story and share from Kurt. Absolutely 💯 inspiring...so many touch points that hit home and put me in tears; tears of joy and pride, being a Filipino.

I never truly understood why my parents were so focused on teaching me Tagalog growing up, when so many of my friends and some cousins who I grew up didn't even speak it. But, as I got older, I started to understand their reasons...they always shared with me that I would appreciate knowing our mother tongue and being able to express myself and understand others in a different way.

Now, I'm trying to do the same with my boys, in the hope that they too will appreciate one day, being able to express themselves and understand our people in a more deep way.

Salamat sa mga kapatid ko sa The Filipino Studio at sa The Filipino Story - your story is our story. Thank you for enriching and uplifting us all.

So proud to share in our beautiful culture with all...to my fellow Pinoys and to non-Pinoys alike who share the same heart ❤️

Mabuhay!
