Tips to mail your handmade cards

In the US, I buy the butterfly stamps. They are a bit more expensive than a regular stamp, but it's the only stamp that tells the postmaster to hand cancel it. That way it avoids any machinery and chances are so much better that the bling or bits/pieces that cause a bump or so in the envelope, won't get mangled or destroyed. It works every time. If it's thinker, then I have them weigh and charge me the extra. It's usually less than the cost of 2 stamps and they hand cancel it for you.

Some great tips. I bought my self a small mailing scale to weigh the cards before heading to the PO. Eliminated the surprise of extra $$ when I got to the window.

Thank you sooo much for this helpful postage tutorial! It can be so confusing and such a waste to slap extra postage on thecard when you really didn't have to because you didn know these tips you shared. ai know I have given the.post office more postage through the years than necessary. So, I thank you again and willbe making myself one of those handy slots to meadure with from now on.
