Lundy figuring out that the Butcher had a law enforcement background is one of the biggest yet most believable and impressive leaps in logic I’ve seen from a character.

Rather than make sense of the manifesto, Lundy recognizes its true purpose. Plus it was a great consequence of Dexter’s brazenness and carelessness.

It was smart of Dexter to manipulate lundy into believing he had done sloppy work, which threw him right off the butcher's trail in terms of Dexter, as the Butcher was extremely methodical down to the smallest detail.

I love how Lundy thought it was Dexter until they found the blood slides in Doakes car. Even then, when LaGuerta tried to to prove Doakes innocent, he told her to find better evidence he can use.

I think deep down Lundy knew it was Dexter
