Here is a performance by one of the most influential Black-British Funk-Soul Groups: Linx.
This is from a Top of the Pops Performance shown earlier this year (2016) on BBC4, from the year 1981. Here they are performing their single 'So This is Romance', which reached number 15 on the UK Singles chart in September 1981.
Of all the Black-British singles that have ever shown themselves to be the most naturally unique and magnificent, this single for me is the epitome of a true great Black-British single.
The keyboard 'fantasy-like' timbre sound makes this single very unique and very distinctive. At the time of the single's release, this sound was very important and very revolutionary for Black-British music, because it showed the capabilities of the modern keyboard, that were just coming into fashion for the music industry, as well as for the home market.
Linx represented the first modern sound reflection of Black-British artists and Black-British musicality.
Most of all it is Linx's naturalness of the song lyrics that capture everyday life of 'Everyone' that makes Linx song enduring to this very day. You never get the sense with this Linx song that you are even a bit embarrassed by the sexiness of the song lyrics, like a lot of Black-British groups would depict today in their songs.

He is a classy man, husband, father who shines the light of Jesus. God bless him and his beautiful family.

In those days we would buy cassette tapes from Woolworths or WH Smith’s, then take them home and record music from the radio. Even though it was illegal to do that in the UK at the time. This was one of the songs that I recorded, back in 1981. I don’t even know who Tyler is !

TIME WARP!! Played on the radio in 82 a year after it was released in a Fish and Chip restaurant on Scarborough sea front and I have never heard it on the radio since. Its crazy because this is an amazing song and easily amongst the best of the whole of the 80's.
