I read Normal People in January 2021 and Conversations with Friends in January 2022 and they gave me a best kick start to the year as I finished them so easily and quickly which made me get in the overall mood for reading voraciously throughout the year! Also, yes, her characters are super flawed but somehow I wanted to continue going because I was so invested in their lives 😭 I don’t know about Beautiful World but the other two didn’t have quotation marks and it was the only con for me while reading them, I guess you heard the audiobook so it didn’t matter that much to you? Overall I’m obsessed w her writing style and will also read whatever she publishes 😭❤️❤️

I read Normal People and frankly, I felt it was an overrated book. I don't know if I would like to read her other books but after your review, I'm thinking of giving 'Beautiful World Where Are You' a try.

I was really excited to read Normal People and finally when I was done reading it, honestly, I hated it. There was a lot of toxicity but as you said, I think it is all about understanding contemporary dating and relationships. Yet, I wasn’t able to accept what was going on in the book and it totally wasn’t my cup of tea. A lot of scenes were disgusting.

I’m not a big fan of Sally Rooney’s writing too. It’s easy to understand and gripping but it gets confusing with the dialogues going on without the quotes. I don’t think I’d read another book if the stories are so raw.
