in which he asks if he has aged out of Millennial Fiction:

Enjoyed this. Please promise that every review of a book with protagonists under age 35 (or author under 35) will henceforth be an "old man review"! 🙂

Finally got around to watching this. I think if I were about 20 years younger this might appeal to me more, but so far I am just not interested. And everyone talking about it confirms it. I was nodding along to quite a lot of what you said. I find it interesting though how people talk about her books and writing and the overall impact she has.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Normal People, I preferred Beautiful World, Where Are You, but I think there's definitely an intensity and insecurity of your early 20s that Rooney captures and has clearly resonated with a massive audience. I am really interested in what she will do with her next book!

Hahaha, old man's opinion, hilarious! I don't often agree with Steve about fiction, but with regards to Rooney he is spot on. Normal People is cliché-d in every possible way, but especially re gender. Boring.

This sounds like a novel that I would only be able to act as an old man toward haha. This definitely sounds like a novel that would make me angry haha 😅
