Australian athletes debate ban on transgender women in athletics

World Athletics, the sport’s governing body, announced new restrictions on transgender athletes on March 24, 2023. The council decided to exclude transgender women who have gone through male puberty from elite female competitions, starting from March 31. Several Australian athletes criticised the decision.

It has nothing to do with discrimination against trans women; it has to do with protecting the rights of biological women in sports.

Many deserving women in sports were robbed of the podium when trans joined. They have an unfair advantage physically.

The committee can make their own division so they can compete with other transgender. If they really wanna compete with others, they can be trans and still compete in the mens division. That should not be a problem but when you're biologically a man and then suddenly becomes transgender and then join and competes in the women's division, that becomes unfair.

As a women I feel discriminated with the idea of trans men competing with women on sports. Its just not fair, it does not star from the same place period.

What’s to debate? Point One: Biologically men and women have markedly different physical capabilities, letting them compete would be unfair.
Point Two: A man cannot magically become a woman anyway unless you’re willing to suspend reality.

I like where this is going. Real women have fought for so long to be represented in sports. Why should men dressed as women steal the achievements of real women?

There was an incident in America where a Women Swimming Tournament was won by a Transgender Man. The Women Athletes were not happy.
