With a powerful old style backstroke you can easily pass by most people who do a breast stroke and still save energy because you're lying on your back and can breathe freely. It's my go to emergency stroke.

There's no reason not to do some of the older styles, maybe with different kicks, mix it up. The only reason for the four stroke hegemony of today is competition. Competition f*cks up everything, people get so rigid in their ways. Just swim how you feel like swimming, it doesn't have to be "correct".
And then you have people talking about "open water swimming", or as I call it "swimming", and they have to give you advice on how to swim in open water, like "take breaks", "breathe more". JFC people!

about a butterfly stroke - for me it is hard to mayke te stroke slow as on the video. Im doing it quick and with much power. and I'm trying nowto make a 50 meter swimm as the swimm takes all my strenght.
