Do passengers have to inform police if they are carrying a f!rearm? It really depends. In some states, the law requires the passenger of a vehicle to inform the officer. But, the law is very murky here, so we usually advise people to tell the officer, no matter what state you're in. If an officer finds out you are carrying without you telling them first, they often get spooked and the situation is usually escalated.

How does the supersede the right to remain silent. The justice system is a joke. There’s really at least 3 systems. 1 for politicians, 1 for the rich & the 1 the rest of us get.

Florida law is "don't ask, don't tell". There is no duty to inform no matter if you are the passenger, driver, walking down the street unless asked directly if you have a weapon.

Its not a grey area. Passengers are not the detained party. They've broken no laws.

In Kentucky you do not have a duty to inform a police officer if you are carrying a weapon. The officer may ask but you are not compelled to answer as per the 5th Amendment.

The 5th Amendment says you don't have to inform a cop of jack shit!

If we have the 5th amendment doesn’t that mean we don’t have to answer questions? I’ve never seen an amendment that states officer safety means we have to tell the police that we are armed! I love our freedom and will not answer questions like that

I’d say it’s none of their business regardless…. The passenger isn’t being stopped typically and I’d tell them I don’t answer questions since being a passenger isn’t against the law

Laws are not the problem, the people who are supposed to enforce the law are.

Yeah, I go by the constitution, and it says I have zero obligation to speak to pigs at all. Period.

When a criminal government makes unconstitutional law's under the 14th amendment do not comply. The constitution doesn't mention anything about permits or permission from government officials or judges.

Unless I'm suspected of a crime I don't consent to searches or seizures

Let's cut threw the BS. If you are sitting still and legally parked then you can not be pulled over in any state so you are NOT obligated to divulge ANY INFORMATION.

And if a citizen feels a state law is unconstitutional they can have it taken up for judicial review.

This happened to me. I was a passenger in a car that got stopped because one of the bright lights blew when we hit a pothole. This was witnessed by a pair of deputies (1 car, 2 pigs).

They demanded my ID under threat of violence, ran my name without middle initial or address (I lived in a different county than where we got stopped). Next thing I know, one deputy rips the door open and puts his sidearm TO MY HEAD, demanding that I turn over a firearm I didn't have or I was going to get shot. They did an illegal search of the vehicle, found nothing, then looked at my ID again, finally figuring out they had the wrong person. They refused to identify themselves. When I called to file a formal complaint, I was told they had no deputies in that area that night, despite the fact that the driver was arrested and transported to our home county over a bench warrant for an unpaid ticket. I then received middle of the night drive-bys by cars from that county, shining their spotlights in my windows at all hours, under cover of darkness.

So, tell me again how I should trust the pigs. I'll wait.

It's always a great idea to inform them you are carrying. I have carried for over 30 years, and always inform immediately

I gave DL and ccw to the sheriff, and he asked if he could get it out of the back of the van... 5 min later, waiting for a turn signal ticket/ warning, I looked up and saw I was being surrounded and had 5 guns pointed at me and proceeded through a felony arrest for being a felon with gun... i kept saying I'm not a felon... 1.5 hours later, I finally realized they thought I was my 3 years dead uncle who was twice my age, and the most important difference we had different middle names😮... I was so mad...

My lawyer told me to keep a copy of my uncles death certificate with me so it doesn't happen again... I could and should have filed a lawsuit but didn't believe in that at the time 😕
