I gotta say, it's pretty cool how you fearlessly go ahead and just try your hand at all these techniques and stuff. Makes me wanna try it too

I just started printed, and painting. And decided to swing towards the oil painting. I went with the oil water soluble kind.

Oils have become kind of the new hotness in mini painting lately! Great to see you boldly trying new techniques - you are fearless! Also, you can't go wrong following Vince Venturella tutorials! The guy is an endless font of hobby knowledge! Another poster pointed out Marco Frisoni as another great source of oil painting knowledge - he has lots of videos on different oil techniques and styles.

It made me smile to see you that happy when you were trying this out! I've considered doing oil washes as some of my painters I watch on here are doing, as it happens. Good work, Miss Stephanie!

Hi, just discovered your channel and really enjoying your videos. A quick tip they gave me many years ago. Block the colors you want to use with acrylics. Then finish with oils. I hope I make sense here 😄

Great video! I am using water mixable oil paints on my minis because I don’t want to use spirits for clean up.

Good job with the video. Very helpful as I am starting to use oils for my miniatures as well. I thought the close up fixes was helpful and the time lapse was helpful.

We've definitely been watching the same videos because I've been thinking a lot about trying oil painting. What puts me off is that many of the people demonstrating these techniques use an airbrush which I don't have but I'm very encouraged by your enthusiasm. One thing I would like to try that I have seen anyone do, is use nail art products, because some of the effects are incredible but I'm not sure about how well they'd go on very detailed minis but for terrain they'd definitely work I reckon.

I loved that smile when you started the blend and it made me smile too cause I have had the same, the first time I had try this method
so next time you will paint some skin 😅? Needs to work with color theory but you can start by mixing some red and yellow with a touch of blue as a start, for the shadow add more blue to that base and for the highlight you have several choices, you can go with more yellow but I like to add a touch of green with... naturally you can use white and black to lighten and darken the color but I found it can desaturate the color a bit too much for my taste

Ha, that's crazy. I'm using oils on Mollog's mob myself at the minute.

Granted only as washes and blending hue shifts and high lights, but oils are well and truly a key piece of my work flow now.

Being able to subtract colours with a little mineral spirits on a brush is a game changer, let's me edit my colour shifts much easier.

The bat squig came out 👌

It’s so much fun yeah haha 😂 I’ve just got some a couple of weeks back and the speed of blending, it’s almost like I’m cheating 😂

It looks like your camera keeps trying to focus on the pluses on the cutting mat. Have you tried a more neutral colored mat without the plus detail? I think it would discourage the camera from trying to focus on the mat instead of your work.
