Excellent. Press F4 on the keyboard that's not working to get it working...

The keyboard on this 5570 was only half-working. I followed these steps. All the way through the diagnostic, it was working fine. When I went back to Windows, it was A-OK. No idea what caused it or fixed it, but this video was involved, so THANK YOU!

Thanks for taking the time to share this information, I followed all the instructions, but the keyboard still doesn't work. I contacted the Dell company, and the answer was they will erase the entire laptop and recycle it because there is no solution to fix it.

I followed these instructions and made a note of the error codes. However, when I went to the Dell FB page and tried to get help, I was informed that my laptop was out of warranty. Thanks for nothing.

TRY....Using a external wired mouse, and wired keyboard and plug them into your labtop to follow the instruction given here, if you have one laying around, borow one from a family member/friend or buy the cheapest ones you can find. In the mean time You can also use the external mouse and keyboard in place of the none-functioning built in keyboard To access your laptop like >> typing, accessing your programs and folders, the internet. Hope this help.

My problem with the key board was that my internal keyboard was not working as my external keyboard was. Whatever i pressed on keyboard it was only typing letter 'g' or if i consistently pressed any key, it was typing letter 'r'. Last time i used keyboard was working completely fine so i dont know what caused it Thanks Sir, . Bios was in critical update need so i updated then installed it restarted the o.s in dos mode then suddenly keyboard flashed lights & i was glad i went through this as it worked. Adding this comment if someone has same issue so it can help. Inspiron 7537 (10 years old but gold).

At 45 seconds in it says "Select keyboard from the list of components" -- but notice that it is not actually shown in the list! I was unable to test for this reason!

I bought brand new Dell G3 3779 in July 2018 and faulty keyboard was replaced in 3rd year of warranty (expired 05 Jul 2021). Intermittent functionality issues have persisted since after say 12 months of purchase and the keyboard replacement was a wasted effort. External keyboards have always worked 100%; but these are not always practical to travel with. Numerous Windows and Firmware updates have failed to address my keyboard issues. My frustrations run so high sometimes that I wish to smash this laptop against the wall, make a video and post it all over the with the caption.... DON'T BUY DELL!! I'm sorry but that is how I feel about this laptop.

What if you can't access the boot menu?

My Dell Inspiron 7620 2in1 touchscreen laptop is barely 14 months old but it is facing the keyboard issue as discussed here. In my case, the laptop's keyboad works erraticially meaning i need to strike the keys for more than once - especially while typing the name of file on the Save or Save As box while saving it from Google Chrome browser etc - although i am able to type here normally on YouTube page on the same Chrome browser.

Gosh this was all useless, and I wasted hours of restarts with it. I could get into the boot menu or BIOS with F keys, but then had no keyboard input once I was there and couldn't navigate anywhere. The menus go by quickly, and it took many tries to be sure the D key didn't work when the F12 key did, and to find that I could use the mouse to get into an unhelpful diagnostic program. The Support Assistant program didn't help. And trying to go into safe mode, I got stuck being unable to navigate the screen to choose safe mode with keyboard or mouse. My computer booted to that screen 3 or 4 times before booting to normal Windows again. Just as I thought I was going to have to pay someone to fix the problem, dusting off an old keyboard and plugging it in fixed everything. Which is what I ought to have done in the first place, and what probably ought to be in this video, along with trying other USB ports. My Dell keyboard had simply stopped working after 4 years. Which isn't a bad run for a keyboard, but Dell support could do a bit better than this.
