8 Best Weightlifting Shoes 2025 | Picks for Squats & Big Lifts

Weightlifting shoes are a specific type of footwear built for the sport of weightlifting, squats, and lower body days (context-dependent).

Generally speaking, weightlifting shoes will last you quite a while if you take good care of them. Since you're only wearing them for specific workouts, you can usually keep pairs in good health for 1-3 years, so I think they're worth the investment for most lifters.

In my best weightlifting shoes round-up, I'll cover eight of my favorite picks and discuss my rationale for why.

0:00 Intro
0:07 What Are/Why Use Weightlifting Shoes
1:45 Lu Xiaojun Lifter 1.0
5:13 Under Armour Reign Lifter
7:36 Inov8 Fastlift Power G 380
10:17 TYR L-1 Lifter
13:30 Nike Romaleos 4
16:00 Reebok Legacy Lifter 3
18:31 Adidas Adipower 3
21:06 Best Budget Weightlifting Shoes
23:52 Final Remarks

The beautiful thing about weightlifting shoes in 2024-2025 is that we have more options than ever.

We now have more premium options if you want top-tier quality, as well as a variety of marked-down options that perform surprisingly well despite their prices.

Again, I'd look at new weightlifting shoes as an investment, and if you take good care of them, I'm confident they'll last you quite some time.

I buy the shoes I review, and I try to answer everyone's questions. If you'd like to support the channel, join the TF2 OG crew below!

I set this up so it pays for itself, I always want That Fit Friend to give to the community that gives to it.

I've had the legacy lifter 2 for the longest time. Solid as a rock. Like you said who needs innovation

Wished I had found this video before I pulled the trigger on some tyr L-1 lifters that I got on final sale 😭 This was an excellent video and a great resource for anyone (like me) who is looking to learn more about the weightlifting shoes on the market! Thanks for the insight on sizing too!

Toe spring is definitely a issue with the ll3, i got a pair of antas because of it. Feel so much better having ground feel in forefoot

I have the legacy lifter II and find it puts me on my toes too much. I always get knee pain after wearing them even though they help me be more upright in my snatch. But I only wear them to snatch because of the issue getting into toes easily.

Love the reviews, it would be cool if you went with the white or colored versions of the shoes instead of the black!

I wear the legacy lifters 1 in us9. What size should I get for LXJ since they dont do us9 in most colourways? Keep up the good work man!

11 years ago when i was 18 I used to squat 2.8x my bodyweight 425 1rm. I just wore vibram five finger toe shoes haha. From what ive learned about weight lifting shoes seems its more beneficial for squats. What about deadlifts? I liked flats like barefoot/converse, just got back into weight lifting couple weeks ago and now im in vans.

Are the Lu PowerPros a big upgrade over Powerlifts? I have Powerlifts going on 4 years but am wondering if a tiny bit of additional heel would be noticeable/helpful. Would really only use shoes for front/back squats and powercleans.

Thanks for this awesome review? If I only do squatting, do these shoes still apply. I don't do olympic weightlifting

What your recommendation for powerlifting? Only need for squat with poor ankle mobility

I was shopping for lifting shoes but was thinking a slant board might be a cheaper, longer lasting alternative. I do not compete in power lifting or Olympic lifting. I am just trying to hypertrophy train my quads. Is a slant board going to benefit my quad development the same as lifting shoes? Any reason why you might recommend lifting shoes over a slant board?
