As we close out 2022 and head into 2023, I wanted to make a list of some of my favorite and the best weightlifting shoes on the market.

There are a lot of different weightlifting shoes to choose from and every model varies slightly based on its construction. Some models are great for beginners while others excel specifically for the sport of weightlifting.

In this best weightlifting shoes round-up, I included 8 of my favorite weightlifting shoes from this past year that I'll continue to use in 2023.

0:00 Best Weightlifting Shoes Intro
0:30 TYR L-1 Lifter
2:23 Velaasa Strake
4:45 Inov-8 Fastlift Power G 380
6:49 Rogue Do-Win Weightlifting Shoes
9:08 Reebok Legacy Lifter 2
11:11 Nike Romaleos 4
13:09 Adidas Powerlift 5
15:27 Adidas Adipower 3
17:49 Closing Thoughts

In this video, I tried to include a nice wide range of weightlifting shoes that excel for different reasons.

Is there a top model across the board? It really depends on the context of your training and what you prefer with your weightlifting shoes.

All eight of the weightlifting shoes in this video have nuances that help them have their own respective strengths and weaknesses.

Another real pro of the Romaleos 4, warranty. I had the 4s for about a year and I don't know I guess I got unlucky and the sole ripped from one end to the other. The warranty process is slow but as long as you are the original buyer and bought within 2 years from a licensed vendor, they'll cover it with a voucher. So I ended up with a replacement covered by them

15:47 top right the entire rack is coming apart, a whole ass bolt or screw dropped.

Safety number one priority for sure

My heel feels pretty loose in the adida powerlifts but ive enjoyed them as a beginner squat shoe. It all comes down to how you sit your foot in the shoe while lacing and strapping it.

Im glad i found your channel it is really helpful and well produced. Keep up the quality content.

I recently bought the Reebok ll2 as my first weightlifting shoes for €120, and I'm so happy with them. To be clear, I'm an amateur, and I've only started doing OLY 2 months ago, so I don't know how valid my opinion might be. Anyway, my first week with them was weird, because I've never used any high heel shoes and was using the Adidas The Total. But now I love them. They are really stable and well constructed. For €120 it might be the best pick.

Thank you so much for this video. I’m trying to decide on my first lifting shoes. This video and all the comments here are so helpful

I ended up going with TYR L1 for my first lifting shoes, because of my slightly wider toes. Appreciate the buying guide my guy!

Very helpful overview review!

Interesting to hear that you found the inov-8 G380s to be quite narrow, as I've heard others say they're quite wide/spacious (one even saying they rival the TYR L-1s in terms of width), this would definitely come down to the anatomy of each persons foot of course.

What you said about the new version of Do-Win's being different makes sense. I bought them because I heard they were good for wide feet, but they're not really that wide. And the sole isn't quite flat either. There's a kind of pivot point that can cause you to rock back and forth. Still not a bad shoe for a beginner. Will probably get some TYR L1's later this year.

You are right about Romaleos 4's toe box. I ordered my normal size 8.5 and my toes were squashed at the toe box. I returned and ordered size 9. It is still very narrow and uncomfortable in the toebox with size 9. I have a bunion on my right foot, but my left foot is standard size.

Very interesting. I just started looking at these shoes and never heard of wooden heels. Thanks.

I bought adipower in 2016 and lasted me to 2024. It costed me around $150 amazon then. My point is to invest in a good shoe to carry on through the years.

Bought TYR L-1 Lifter because of that video. Wide foot. Feel like a glove!!! BTW: I had to order +1, 3 of my usual size. I waer 42 2/3 and I ordered 44 (EU). So flat, confortable, nice material, pretty design.

Just got the Tyr1, first time using a shoe specifically for squats and what a difference it makes. Took out the insoles and the fit is just right

Helpful review thanks! I had Adipower 1 shoes however, I lost them in my move. I'll probably pick up the 3s. What you said about them being narrow for wide feet is true however even true to size they are pretty durable. I had my Adipower 1 shoes for almost 5 years and they held up pretty well. Keep in mind the only heavy lifts I did in them were squats and deadlifts.

Great work, Jake! You're doing important work that not many are doing right now. I would hope you'd focus a bit on the WL aspect of WL shoes though :).
Talking about Rom4 without mentioning the heel slip?

Great video. I've been eying those TYR lifters, my issue has been transitioning back to heels after going minimal for squatting for so long. Toe box always is too tight and I feel like I don't get good enough feel of the ground b/c of the hard soles.
