As someone with a disability, who draws disability, the idea of moving *anywhere* seems unattainable.

Poor Americans don't have the option.

as a queer person I escaped Russia two years ago and came to the US for protection and I’ll be forever thankful to America for taking me in and giving me and my family all the rights that we never had before and I truly love my new home. The journey is harder than anyone can describe but if you feel like you can’t be you in your country then it’s worth it to find a place where it’s actually gonna feel like home

One reason I've been thinking about leaving recently actually has nothing to do with politics. I've spent 98% of my life in the same three-hour (by car) radius on this whole giant planet of ours. I don't want to wake up one day, be 70 years old, and regret never having spent time (past a two-week vacation) in another culture, immersed in other languages, experiencing a different work culture, etc. I think about it every day.

I can't afford to leave the country if things go south. And as a queer woman, that TERRIFIES me

"my silly old conservative parents?" My dad has eugenics books on his shelves. I know exactly who my dad is.

I bought a one-way ticket to Uruguay after the 2020 insurrection, met the love of my life and have never returned, no regrets

Something not mentioned here that GREATLY impacts my daily life is how politics has infected interpersonal relationships and general culture to be just insufferable. I can’t go a single day without somebody mentioning politics at work, within my family, a friend expressing how fearful they are, and the conversations are rarely informed or ends up with someone trying to educate me when I’m just living man. The amount of people I’ve met since Covid that have said “we’re just weeding out the weak ones” or have thought that wearing a mask is what gave them gangrene is shocking. Working in the healthcare industry has further burned me out. It’s like all critical thinking and management of your own mental health has gone out the window as the zeitgeist of propaganda further frustrates people in an attempt to mobilize (or in some cases demobilize) individuals to vote. USA culture has turned to garbage, and I personally can’t stand it anymore.

How many people who've watched this DON'T have the means to leave the country? I sure as shit am one of those people.

As a gay black woman, I have actively been weighing the pros and cons of jumping ship since 2016. I am a Texan with a wife and a black teen daughter. To say I live in a constant state of fight or flight is the understatement of the century. Leaving the country is not financially feasible when the cost of living is steadily rising, making it impossible to save tens of thousands of dollars. Not to mention, it’s SO HARD to emigrate, which is yet another reason I will continue to defend immigrants. I have considered other more progressive states but trying to decide if I can live with racism, homophobia, or an unrealistic cost of living has proven difficult. There is no sweet spot. No matter where in the world I go, I will have to deal with one or all. Being intersectional is a fucking chore sometimes but I would born exactly as I am all over again if given the choice.

I actually did leave 3 years ago. It's sad that the American Dream has now become the ability to LEAVE.

The worst part is feeling like you're fighting friends and family and vote against your basic rights....

I left the US for Germany in 2014 after Snowden showed the extent of the surveillance state. Best decision of my life and I feel very vindicated in that choice. You can't see the bubble you're in until you leave it. No place is perfect, but at least politics here is more pluralistic and worker rights/renters rights/healthcare is a thing.

I can definitely see the fall of America in my lifetime. I don't blame anyone for leaving.

I am 21 year old female living in California. I’m LGBT+ and would like to have a child with my partner and eventually own a home. I’m a blue collar worker in skilled trades wanting a living wage. I working a side gig at a restaurant to stay financially ok, and going to Community College to not go into student debt. I have a fully paid off car, and have no debt. Hard work doesn’t pay off like it used to, and my human rights are at risk this upcoming election.
I’m a dual citizen of Australia. Project 2025 would destroy many aspects of my life. I have no fear living to Sydney, Australia.

Hey everyone, German here. Germany is in desperate need of skilled professionals in all kinds of jobs. If you want to work here, it is relatively easy to get the resident permit which is all you need to stay for long. The first 3 months American cirizens can even stay visa-free.

I am very sorry for what is happening in the US for the last 10 years. Germany is not a paradise, but its not nearly as depressing as the US(for now).
Just wanted you to know about another option.

As a dual citizen who immigrated to the US from Europe almost 2 decades ago, I did not sign up to be ruled by dictators and live in a fascist environment. I do indeed plan on leaving the US with my family should the coup plotter be allowed to exercise his tyrant rule upon us. Only in America do you get to attempt a coup not only once, but twice.... It was literally the least likely thing I thought could happen here given how long democracy has survived here... Boy was I wrong.

This video felt almost personalized, but it's only a testament to just how many people feel this way.

Family and I (I’m queer) already made plans! Mom and I have Mexican citizenship so we’ll stop in Mexico while my dad (cis white male) stays here to see how it goes and take care of our things. Endgame is to reunite and settle in Spain! Already got my doctors to hook me up with prescriptions for a year and sending my meds internationally, as well as a letter for my kitty to be an emotional support animal 🥰

I hope to God we won’t have to go in November, but better to be ready than for it to be too late!

I moved to Canada with my family in 2012. I was still a kid, but seeing Canada embrace this “freedom” and “patriotic” aesthetic was really freaky. But then seeing it transition from aesthetic (fuck Trudeau stickers, confederate flags for some reason) to policy is terrifying. There are so many Canadians in support of semi-private to private health care thinking it will cut down on wait times. It will mean all we get is wait times.
