Creating Map Package in ArcGIS

Map packages .mpk make it easy to share complete map documents with others. A map package contains a map document .mxd and the data referenced by the layers it contains, packaged into one convenient, portable file.
Steps to follow
Option 1
• Prepare your Map Document. mxd
• Click File - Share As -Map Package on the main menu.
• Name your new map package.
• Specify where to save your map package - either as a file on disk or in your ArcGIS Online account.
• Fill in the required fields for Item Description.
• Click Analyze to validate your map for any errors or issues & Share.

When you have used packages for some time - the folder these end up in get enormous in size/GB and its hard to know what is old and what is actually used. How do you solve this?

Hello, could you please help me with a doubt? If we want to share this with anyone, do we have to share the file geodatabase as well which includes all the data?
