My dad was schizophrenic in the 70s growing up. He had hallucinations, the flat affect, voices, thought he was Jesus. I was only 4 & thought he was special bc he could talk to people without the phone. When he wasn't having episodes he was mean as hell & cruel & dangerous.

Can't wait for the researchers to make greater progress in understanding, predicting/prevent(?) and treating schizophrenia. Good Short Dr. Marks

Dr. Tracy, please make a video explaining how to differentiate such negativa symptoms related to socialization from ASD. I believe it to be very necessary, for there are different patterns for each, isn't it? 😊 Thank you!

I've had psychosis since I was kid. We didn't know what to call then. I've got a better hold on it now. My teen years were rough. Thank you for all you do. Wish you could be my doctor.

thank you!! it’s good to see more reliable information about psychotic disorders. i don’t even technically have psychosis (attenuated psychosis syndrome) but my onset was early twenties, rather unexpectedly. early treatment seems to have really helped, and i’m always keeping an eye out for more information and coping methods 🙏

I was 4 when my schizophrenia started and you're right, it has been hard to treat. Can you do a video on child onset schizophrenia?

I suffered from self induced schizophrenia for 15 years do to addiction. Been clean from the drugs and voices for over 4 years. My heart goes out to the ones who get this naturally…it’s exhausting.

That is helpful, I never knew this info. My Mother was a bipolar paranoid schizophrenic who died at 80. It started in teens and was most severe in her last 10 years of life.

My father has been skeptical since I was young, but it was bearable to us(may be it’s just because we have high tolerance). But since after his 60s, his condition got much worsen. He thinks people are stalking him, putting poison in his food, hacking into his phone. He’s mean to his family no matter when he has episode or not by the way.

I wonder how being born in autumn or winter effects the probability. That is interesting!

I have psychosis and started hearing voices at age 22. I had a depression diagnosis since 2016 when I was 19.

So it's not like a sudden illness that strikes someone 😮

Wow. Being born in the winter or fall is a risk factor 😶? My male partner was born in the winter, and definitely has delusions as a child, so this all checks out. Unfortunately, we didn't catch it until his first severe psychotic episode 😢.

Could you possibly cover childhood psycosis in autism? I've gone off the deep end with learning about psychology and can't stop watching your shorts.

Some of those "negative symptoms" overlap with autism spectrum & PTSD
