Title : Muhammad Ali's First Defeat

==========================================

For the first time two undefeated and undisputed boxers Joe Frazier as WBA, WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion, with Lineal Champion Muhammad Ali.

Muhammad Ali, who was stripped of his title by boxing authorities for refusing military service, appeared tired after the sixth round and unable to maintain the tempo he had in the first third of the fight.

Entering the end of the fight, all three judges gave Frazier the absolute advantage.
And Frazier closed the round decisively by landing a left hook that sent Ali falling to the canvas for the first time.

Ali took only 6 months and 2 (tough) warm-ups in preparation for Frazier. He got his butt whupped. But he took it like a the consummate pro he was and exacted revenge in the 2 rematches. He was The Greatest.

This clip was heavily edited. Ali actually beat Frazier up so badly in this fight to the point that Joe spent over a month in the hospital after this fight.

I will never forget the hype for that fight. I was a fourteen year old ninth grader and it’s all we talked about for three months before and after the fight. I didn’t see it until it was shown in the movie theaters in July 1971.

As a Ali Fan....Ali took Frazier lightly. He HONESTLY thought this would be an Easy Fight. The Way Joe Fights, Idk why he would think that. The first minute of the first rd, Ali was making seem so easy to hit him but once Joe landed his first hook to Ali's body, Ali stopped dancing and that's when the fight started. Even if Ali trained to Dance, he would've still been tired but he wouldn't have gave up a few rds and played to not show he was tired.

Any other fighter wouldve been sleeping all the way to hospital but Ali was no ordinary man. Not only did he come back and best Frazer he knocked out George in rumble in the jungle. Rip to both champs.

Ali, had he not had those 3 years stolen from him, would have been even better by 1971 than he was here. He would not have lost to Frasier.

Those shoe tassles flying and frozen in print media added to the grandeur of the bout and artistry within the ring.

Muhammad Ali always holds his opponent's neck from behind, keeps his opponent under control and the umpire always warns him not to hold the neck, some of Ali's matches seem to be fixed

I listened to this fight on radio and was a big Frazier Fan and continued until he retired

I loved how Frazier fought. He just put his head down and went straight at his opponent. He didn't screw around, he actually fought.

Muhammad Ali won this fight. Politics should never ever be allowed to interfere with sports.

Was so happy Joe won that fight. I wish he would’ve beat him in the Manila fight too, but he did lose that second fight was like an exhibition.
