Is this a hub or switch as this setup seems it is for a hub? Many thanks Sam

I just got a Netgear GS108 from Walmart and searched everywhere for a SIMPLE how to use this thing. There all a bunch of stupid unboxing videos and Netgears printed manual is unclear and not much help. Mine is an 8 port Gigabit Desktop Switch Prosafe. I purchased it for my home to have a few wired connections. Anyway, I plugged an ethernet cable from my MODEM to port 8 on the Netgear switch box and my first wired / connected device “Sling Airtv” to port 7 on the Netgear switch box and it’s working. I have not yet plugged any other devices to other ports yet. It is for Wired Connections Only.

I just want to plug one computer with another through my unmanaged switch, however, they can't see each other. Are you sure I don't have to configure anything in my unmanaged switch? Is that because I didn't plug the switch with the router? Do they (switch and router) need to be plugged together in order to one computer see the other? Plugging both computers into the switch isn't enough for them to see each other?

This video appears to involve connecting the switch to the router via an ethernet cable. What if the switch is in a different part of the house? How do you get an internet conection to the switch?

Do I need to connect it to the router?

No mentions as to making sure your not buying a slower switch than what you need.

🙉It might just be me, but I cannot get any sound from the video. I have checked the sound on my laptop, and I made sure I had the sound on in the video. Bummer.

Hi,
Perhaps I'm obtuse or just don't understand Netgear's logic?
I'm trying, unsuccessfully, to set up a LAG for ports 47 and 48 on a Netgear GS748TS, in order to connect to a Bond created on my DS1821+ NAS.
The steps outlined in this Netgear KB article "How do I set up a LAG between a Smart Managed Pro Switch and a Synology NAS?" don't align with the GS748TS (even though they are in the GS748TS section):
The Netgear KB article "What are link aggregation and LACP and how can I use them in my network?" is very general and indeed refers me to the support section (even though that's where I already am):
The "GS700TS Smart Switch Software Administration Manual" has a section on LAGs in Chapter 4, but just details settings, not a step by step "how" to set them up.
Can someone refer me to a "Netgear Idiot's Guide" or relevant GS748TS YouTube post?

This is just what I needed to help with clarification of things I have read. (However, it was difficult to tolerate the high-pitched voice in the video.)

This video was very informative! However, I could not stand the poor recording quality in the voice over. I think you should hire a better voice over client.

BTW I still gave a like for the wonderful info

Uh, yes, nice video but what's going on with the voice? There's only mid-range and it seems choppy. Plus ... if this is really the Marketing Director ... good marketing would say it's better to hire someone to do a voice-over.
