The only way you could be offended by Chappelle's jokes, like say, his joke about molesting kids, is if you thought he was serious. The only way someone could mistake such an obvious illocution for a proposition is on purpose.

Humor brings us back to our own level...either we are not very evolved primates or we are "fallen" creatures. Humor reminds us that "utopia" is only a fantasy, but that dystopia might become a reality.

This may be very dangerous for me. I am a person on the left😬 but I did really enjoy Dave Chapelle's last special. I am someone that believes comedy is supposed to be daring and challenging and the line of dangerous topics. Greats like Carlin, Pryor, Eddie Murphy, and yes Dave Chapelle made a living off of those jokes. I could see why some people got offended, but I myself wasn't. I'm with Chapelle on this topic. Every comedian should have the right to try a joke and if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

As a woman, I agree that men are the funnier ones. My theory used to be that it had something to do with the fact that females mature earlier. Now I think Shapiro is right- it stems from awareness of our incompetencies but perhaps this awareness is more strongly embedded in men because they have all that time at puberty to wish they were caught up. So maybe it's a combination of things that stems from Shapiro's main observation. I love this show.

My ex wife would never laugh watching comedy. One day we watched a Steven segal movie... She laughed her ass off... Need i say more? Lol

I agree with this but I would add that, for example, the storm area 51 joke/meme is treated by many on the right as no laughing matter (based on Fox news' video comment section). It could be the case that comedy simply doesn't fare well on the internet because it's not viewed in a suitable context.
