I had never used back button focus, until I received my a7iii. I tried it and liked it. I use the the multi-slc center button. Thanks for sharing with us. Well done, as always.

Hmm? I use the back focus button and have used Time lapse on my A7R III with the Zhiyun Crane Plus & Edelkrone SliderOne Pro . It worked like a charm I'm pretty positive. The next time I use one of them I will do a double check on it.

Hi I recently bought a Sony a7iii, I use to used a Back Button Focus un Canon 5D iv, and o locked de exposition pressing the beside button with the same finger, but in Sony when you move your finger the button in order to get focus, the exposition unlock. How can you fix that?. thanks

David, could you explain where this will come in handy. I have been using it for months but don't really see much benefits. A lot of misleading guides online will tell you that when you don't hold on the back button, your camera is in manual focus which is completely not true with sony cameras, my sony A7III stays in a non focusing mode when it's not pressed, manaul focus ring doesn't work at all. And some other people suggested to me that I need to put the camera in manual focusing through settings and use back button to trigger auto focusing, that again doesn't work with sony cameras. So far I can't convince myself to use it anymore, I don't know why I want to use two buttons to take a photo when I can just use one, half pressing the shutter does exactly the same thing as the back button.

David.... help me out with this one... so I set my AF button to Focus & my AEL button to eye AF... if im shooting a portrait do you need to press both buttons together to get the eye AF to work ..then press the shutter to take the picture ?? i need an extra thumb...hahaha ..i cant press three buttons all at once... ... another video to show us how to actuallly do it i think...

David, I notice that if I do what you said and i have in the settings Auto Preview 2 seconds or more. As soon I take a picture and the auto preview pops up, if I hit the AF-ON again it zooms in in the photo and I have to hit the shutter button again pretty quick to get out of zoomed preview photo. I feel like i am fighting the camera. Have you experience this? Is there is a work around for this? I dont want to zoom in on preview but would like to see the preview. This does not happen if the auto preview is "off".
