Run the program as Administrator.

ON THE KEYBOARD PRESS WINDOWS + X

When the meun appears?

CLICK ON RUN!

TYPE MSCONFIG!

When the system confiuration pops up
Click the Boot tab and choose Advanced Options.
Check the box labeled Number of processors.
Pick from the list how many cores you want to run.
Click Ok.
Click Ok again.
Click Restart.

All Done NOW

all your cores are running
just the way your computer has meant to be run!!!

"The default setting would be having the "Number of processors" checkbox unchecked. This will permit all CPUs (cores) to be used. If you set this to 1 then only one core will be used, resulting in impaired performance. There is no practical difference between having the checkbox unchecked and setting this to the number of cores you have. The setting is primarily for testing purposes.

No I think that is to reduce the number of cores for troubleshooting. The OS (win 10) will detect all cores and use all cores by default, upto to max it is able to as exposed by the bios and the OS spec. For example if you are having issues or maybe for a compatibility reason, you need to reduce the number of cores exposed to the OS.

This mainly effects booting. Not enough . Also people with threads can lose their threads by selecting max available cores in msconfig box. You have to unpark your cores with a core parking program to force the cpu to use all its cores to spread the load. Bitsum Core parking is one of them.

In my case, when I open task manager it will show 1 core and 2 logical threads but I have a dual core processor.

Hey I have a problem so I upgraded my motherboard cpu and ram. But my original cpu had 2 cores and threads. When I installed the new one it didn't show I could enable 4 cores.

So at first it said i had 8 cores on my quad core so i click that, when i tried streaming a game and playing it my frrames were awful and stream was bad. I went to 4 and it was still the same. After another restart it only says 1 have 1 core and my frames are not very good on games

Why does Windows 10 disable multi-core by default? My Cinebench scores jumped from 1100 to 1316 when I enabled multicore using the procedure in the video. I have a 4 physical cores/8 logical cores. My processor is Core i5-1035G1. All three of my laptops experienced such tremendous gains in Cinebench scores when I enabled multicore using this procedure.

Read all the comments and have no explanation but this finally fixed my 16-core HP z820. It is now rendering Cinema 4D files as fast as it did in Windows 7. Sorry that is caused some of you trouble but FINALLY resolved my issues.
