Cardiac glycosides in easy way - Digoxin, digitoxin

What are the cardiac glycosides? What is their structure, stereochemistry and how they present in various plants? We have various plants like digitalis, strophanthus and convallaria all these are having cardenolides showing cardiotonic activity.

Iam confused since digitoxin removes a glucose shoudnvt it be in active? Isn't glucose the sugar connecting the other 3 hydrocarbons to the ring? Also are those 3 carbohydrates also considered sugars? Why are they called digi? Were they discovered in the red fox gloves?
