So it’s bigger than the 991a. Smaller than the dx10 with less features. Sounds like they had left over parts and just made some shit up.

All I want is an updated version of the ft-818 with better receive capability, lower current draw, and an internal antenna tuner. What I don't want on an ft-818 replacement is a color touch screen.

at least it has USB Ports that is a huge step for Yaesu

I want to see Yaesu or icom give us something more comparable to something like the KX2. I'm ok with giving up some extra flair features for portability and functionality. super portable HF rig would be a hit....smaller than the 705

To clarify you did not get that from us and you received from a dealer.

Yaesu does NOT forward these announcements to individuals

Looking for an FT991a replacement - shack in a box

in 1990s yaesu had noise blankers that worked on FM and HTs with full duplex.
in 2022 they have John Crook-Jean-Pierre

Thanks for the info Mike! What I really want Yaesu to release is an update to the FT-818, but any new radio is exciting. A few weeks ago I shipped you some PCBs for the MX-P50M mod that I emailed you about. Hopefully they made it to you. You never know with the mail these days. Take care! Dan N4XTL

Thanks for digressing!

I like the layout and it sounds like an upscale FT-991. The improved filtering should make it better suited for contesting than the FT-991.

I digress, because I am waiting for a replacement for the FT-857D. I have two that I love and an FT-897D, but once a good compact DC to light shack 100W 21st century in a box radio becomes available, I will be quite happy.

I was hoping Icom would follow the IC-705 with a 100W version.

An internal antenna tuner is preferrable, but certianly not necessary. Most of my antennas do not require a tuner. My go to antennas is an 80m-10m EFHW by Ultimax that does quite well without a tuner.

There's no need for HDMI. In this application, DVI-D preforms the same. HDMI has audio with it and you don't need that. But you need to be careful with the HDMI monitor you are using. Some HDMI monitors will output a little power and this has been causing some damage to the radios. You can also order a cable that has DVI-D on one side and HDMI on the other side to eliminate any adapters. And when you use DVI-D, they have the screw in strain relief which I prefer over HDMI which can disconnect too easily.

DVI... Because it's not passing audio guys, just video! No HDMI for you, only 15 year old video port standards. 😭

I’ll just keep rocking my FT-847 160–70cm

Great point on the HDMI and USB C I agree, hum there other radios have that.

Where is 2m and 70cm. Most of the new radios from all manufacturers do not include those bands. I consider it a challenge to make contacts on ssb on those bands.

I'm a yaesu fanatic lol. My first radio was a ft 411-e I bought in 1993-4. I was just a tech-no code then. Exciting how things have changed so much! BTW thanks for the POTA contact...keep up the great work! 73

In case nobody has connected the dots... This is the replacement for the now ancient FT-450.

Gee, Wimo and Martin Lynch already have it on their websites. HRO posted it on FB and is taking reservations.

My guess is it may be a replacement for the FT-450 that was discontinued a couple years ago...

Hi Mike, sounds like the replacement for the venerable FT-450D.
Oh, for the UK market, the specs show 4m band TX.
