I just bought one, it arrives tomorrow. It’s my 4th Yaesu radio. It’s far superior to the 7300 at a lesser price.

I have one on pre-order to replace my IC-7300. Reason? External monitor DVI-D, and Yaesu's 60dB of mic preamp gain (icom only provides about 40 dB of mic gain).

I’ll be a sucker for one… a competitor for the 7300? Gee, an all band, all mode replacement for the 857 would have excited me more! Still, for mine, my FTDX 10 is mildly an ergonomic fail with the location of the band button and no back-lit buttons.
I liked your chat, obviously unlike a couple of comments here… loved your response to them!
Thanks for this video, Hayden!

I want one but price will be factor. Want the 100 watt version personally. The ones in Japan are three versions.. 10, 50, and 100 but..that has to do with limits in power for certain licenses and locations..

The percentage is backwards. 77% will buy one. The 710 has a higher EHAM rating than the FTdx10. I had the 10, sold it & then bought the 710. The 710 is a keeper and best value out there today.

I would like to try the FT-710 compared to my FT-2000 of which has been a great radio

Yes, apparently you can only buy a radio that must not be able to exceed your licence power conditions hence the 3 power versions. This is what I am to understand for operators in Japan

My mind keeps saying - WHY??? why not a competitor to the IC-705/TX500/X6100/KX2/3 - or an updated FT-857D/FT-818 - why another FT991 upgrade/clone?? what is the market they are trying to address here? However as always - understand what YOU want in a radio and then get the one that ticks the most boxes for YOU. My list will be different to yours and my list doesn't give this a lot of ticks

I bought one and it's a great radio better than the ic 7300

I like the button layout of the 710 more than the layout on the FTDX10. But I'm happy with the DX10.

Type A is for the Keyboard or mouse. The FTDX-10 has that.

DVI connectors can be secured in place, which is an advantage over HDMI

The different models of 710 are japan and other different country requirements.

Many people asking "why a new Yaesu FT710 radio?". But this really is a no brainer, why is this so hard to see? This is more than brilliant marketing from Yaesu. The FT710 is the successor for the FT991-A, that is, partly. The other part is coming little later after the FT710 has been released. It will be maybe the FT810 ( same form, same size of course; placing them nicely side by side together) and is housing a 2 m band radio; a 70 cm band radio and a 23 cm radio. All in one, just like Icom did with the IC7300 and the IC9700 shortly thereafter. Each radio pricing $999, - buying both sets you back just under $1999, - making Yaesu about $700, - more than the FT991-A costs. Just brilliant (!) Other than this; utterly pointless video !

Japan has had regs on power output for over 40 years, Yaesu and Kenwood made 100w and 10 watt radios, TS140 or TS140S etc, the SP40 speaker is included
