Could you take the spark guard/arrester off of it, hold down the red tab on the lighter, then instead of refilling the lighter in the bottom like you did (what is a good idea to get you by) fill it through the nozzle where the gas/ flame react on top of the lighter instead? I imagine if the red tab is down the valve is open and you should be able to force butane through that port and when done refilling let off the red button like normal/valve closed and it should be refilled. The possible difficult part is going to be finding a way to reduce the nozzle down to the smaller size from the butane refill can down to the Bic lighter orifice.

when you remove the can with the same hand as you are holding the lighter, please place your thumb over the hole so it wont leak out and continue as you normally would.

Better hack, u know the lid of ur butane can? Inside the cap is little nozzles for putting on the butane tip where the gas comes out...those nozzles will fit on top of the bic lighters nozzle where the flame comes out. Press the lighter down with ur thumb and press the butane into the top of the bic....fyi

So after you pin it with a tac you can optionally use a broken toothpick to seal the hole and then add some glue to seal the gaps.
Things required
1. Dead lighter
2. Butane (preferably 11x)
3. Thumb tac
4. Tooth pick
5. Glue
6. Fast hands
7. Confidence

I never knew that you could refill a plastic disposable Bic lighter. The second this video started, I paused it and I looked at the bottom of my lighter, and I knew that there was a depression in the bottom of it in the center, but I never knew that there was an opening there. I am not sure that popping in the ball-bearing check valve is what you want to do to the mechanism. I am also not sure BiC wants to add such a small spring & change the mechanisms in the inside. ...anyway, thanks for the method. I definitely will tell try it a few times in a controlled environment, that way i can use it when a last resort is needed.
