5 dollars a month would be 60 dollars a year. 2 years would be 120. so if you pay 100 dollars for a few years it is cheaper than 5 dollars a month. correct me if i misunderstood something.

The thing with VPNs is that you want privacy. You don't want government to know who's browsing what. When they follow the traffic to the kind of VPN you're describing here, they see that it belongs to one of those providers, then FBI will ask them to disclose who is the owner of that VPN and the providers will release that information. When you use a public VPN where everybody share the same IP addresses and you have company policies protecting your rights (at least is what they say), that's what's makes the difference.

Isn’t this still not fixing the fact that the ip address isn’t unique, therefore someone tracking you can determine you’re using a vpn and identify you by your system description.

If you make a VPN, and you’re the only one using the VPN, then it’s not anonymous.
