Love Huberman...he's got a real gift of picking both interesting topics, and them explaining them in a way that gets the concepts across intact. Keep going Dr. Huberman!

I never know where to land on the topic of caffeine. I know that when I drink it regularly, I become dependent and only want more until I eventually get to a place of all side effects with no benefits. I know even just drinking tea, my sleep is worse. I also get a little snappy at times.

But I also know that even being off caffeine for months and months, I never have the sharp energy, mental clarity, inspiration and generally positive outlook of life like I do on caffeine. It is definitely a drug.

Would like to hear about these things regarding how they respond when mixed with adhd stimulant therapy.

Since delaying my coffee, and never having my coffee before adhd meds, I feel stable in my heart rate, blood sugar.. mentally capable of Grabbing food and water immediately when needed (no longer unaware of my body). The tiniest change has made every bit of difference because now, I'm able to negotiate calmness easily by cancelling out simple necessities.

Such helpful, to the point, information.

Okay so is having a higher threshold for dopamine good or bad if you have problems such as media or gaming etc addictions. Will it help you to satisfy the craving more or will it increase the dopamine reward when partaking in these negative pass times?

So it inherently makes you more susceptible to addiction?

So what I'm hearing is I drink an unhealthy amount of caffeine for my anxiety to make the depression go away but in doing so I am making myself more anxious

How does this mesh with the recently reported studies that show; the elimination of coffee from a diet results in a 60% reduction in the will to live? 🤔

I drank coffee like water when I was 21 and it put me in the hospital by exacerbating an existing condition I didn’t know that I had.

So caffeine really does increase the pleasure in your life. Nice!

I went off caffeine about a year ago, still drink decaffeinated coffee, and all my feelings if daily caffeine induced hangover first thing every morning, whereby I needs a cup of coffee to sort my head out, disappeared after about 4 days. So, nix caffeine out of your diet and feel 100% more energised. Caffeine is like people addicted to sugar who need sugar for their short term fixes. Dump caffeine and feel more clear headed and out of your caffeine induced rut
