Why A Bug's Life Doesn't Work

A Bug's Life has a whole lot going for it: a fun ensemble of funny characters, an interesting theme, a great villain. But the film as a whole never quite comes together, even though it should, and as a result it's sort of the red-headed step-child of the Pixar line.
