Master Chief and Spartan Locke fight scene from Halo 5: Guardians. Pretty awesome fight scene. I feel like 343 has kind of dropped the ball on showing the height differences between the Spartan versions.

Chief: I've been through 4 games, been shot, blown up, crashed into the earth's atmosphere, and THIS little shit comes and breaks my visor.

My uncles fought exactly like this. last christmas, neither of them are augmented super soldiers with amazing power suits.
Both of them we're drunk.

Is it just me or are the Red vs Blue fights SO much better?

If you actually look closely you can see that Locke's BR breaks in half when he gets smacked across the face with it.

Lots of things wrong here. It's not just the speed(or lack thereof), but all aspects, including strength. First-off. Spartan II's have incredibly dense muscles, ceramic bone coating, and super conductive materials installed all throughout their nervous system, to enhance reflexes by a huge margin...especially, when paired with Mjolnir and an onboard AI. The reason for the bone coating and the super-dense muscles, is so that the Mjolnir suit can magnify your strength and reflex times by an extraordinary amount, without snapping your bones, when instant on-demand strength is required. Therefore, your suit practically knows what it needs to do, when your muscles do. Unaugmented people who wore those suits, wound up being crushed to death. Their physical structure couldn't take the combination of acceleration and strength that was being applied. As a result, the suits were responding to their agonizing spasms and responding accordingly, which only further snapped these poor guys to pieces. Spartan III's and IV's could never wear suits so powerful, due, to the stress it puts on their person. Spartan III's and IV's were about affordability and expendability. Essentially, many of the ODST assimilated into SIV's. The program got cheaper to compromise between effectiveness, yet A single Spartan II cost as much as a space freighter, for instance. That being said, how the heck is Chief not side-stepping and back flipping over this mo-fo and doing all the stuff they do in the books? Better still, Kelly would be the most deadly in this fight. She's the fastest Spartan of all time. Even before the augmentations and suits. In the scene, he moves like he's heavy, in the books they describe the suit as weightless, on account that it responds along with you, in perfect harmonization. Watch the intro to Halo 4. It shows a brief scene of an S2 taking down a brute with a backward flip. This is the crap they do in the books! They are incredibly maneuverable.

I recommend watching this fight at 1.25x speed.

what i wanna know is how locke, a spartan iv, can even stand a chance against chief, a spartan ii, who was practically born into war? bad/lazy writing

Everything about this scene just shows 343 had no idea what the hell they were doing

Man I bet we were all expecting to see master chiefs face when that visor was cracked

Locke: Cortana’s our concern now sir
Chief: Sorry WHAT can’t hear you down there

A red flag in writing is the audience actively denying the in universe plausibility of a scene. When everyone thinks that a spartan II, master chief no less, getting his visor broken by a spartan IV is ridiculous, someone messed up.

Love how Chiefs nod to blue team is the equivalent of saying “Y’all know how this is gonna go down, don’t wait up.”

He turned around to locke like “you have no idea how many GOD DAMN req points it took to get this visor”

chief went from 0-30. basically what I'm saying is chief can could have easily killed Locke but he didn't want to. and the fact Locke pulled a gun on chief was cheap.

Highly trained super soldiers with years of experience have terrible fight choreography, good job 343 👏

How did locke manage to fight this long against the chief. The COVENANT CALLED HIM A DEMON FOR A REASON.

Epic, dont get me wrong. But still no where near what spartans are actually capable of. I mean come on, at the end of Halo 3, chief punches holes into the titanium-A deck plates of the forward unto dawn to avoid falling out the back, yet here, only a fraction of that power, and as for speed, no where near spartan standards.

I like how even tho Locke fought John (chief) he still respects him when he calls him sir knowing this guy is the only man to ever take down covenant armada by himself

This is the slowest, floatiest, most poorly coreographed fight I have ever witnessed

I love how Blue Team sees Locke with a gun and basically go:

“Pshh, what’s he gonna do with that?”

And then proceed to complete ignore him. Chief try’s to do the same, it’s only until he mentions Cortana that Chief starts fighting.
