Dr ambedkar was right about islam, thats why he choose navya Buddhism over islam.
Nothing have change for poor dalits who converted to islam, their condition have become even worse, literacy rate of dalit muslim are even worse thn those of hindu and Buddhist dalits.
They got discriminated by ashraf ( sheikh, pathan, malik, syed etc) and intercast marriage between ashrafs and dalit muslim don't happen.

The thing that majority Indians (forget the World) do not even know that such a system exists in Indian and also Pakistan Muslim communities is so sad. Bcz we still talk about Dalit issues which have been almost solved. Dalits have come to the mainstream India. It's just that too much politicisation of Dalit is stopping their progress. Whereas Pasmanda issues are not even known though their issues are real bcz majority are still following their traditional occupation. And the upper caste Ashrafs don't even want to talk about it actually. The reason is clear Ashrafs being a foreigner Muslim don't wants to see the progress of Native Indian Muslims. Ashrafs are severely over represented in Parliament though they don't have any issues whereas Pasmandas are like almost negligibly represented in Parliament

There is no caste system in Islam but Muslims in India are divided on caste lines.
Muslim society in India consists of several status groups or biradaris that are broadly sorted in three categories:

The Ashrafs (the ‘noble’ elite or the ‘honorable ones’),

The Ajlafs (backward Muslims), and

The Arzals (Dalit Muslims).

Ashrafs – They are Muslims who either claim to have a foreign pedigree, descendants of Muslims from Arabia, Persia, Turkey, Afghanistan (Syeds, Pathans), or who are upper-caste converts from Hinduism (Rajput, Gaur Muslims or Gada Biradari, Tyagi Muslims among others).

Ajlafs – They are middle-caste converts, who were into ritually “clean” occupations.

The Ansari momins (weavers), darzi or idiris (tailors), rayeens or kunjaras (vegetable sellers), Teli Malik, Sheikh Sarwari, Quraishi-Kasai, Gujjar, Ghosi, Gaddi fall in the Ajlaf bracket.

Arzals – They are from the lowest, “untouchable” castes like halalkhors, helas, lalbegis or bhangis (scavengers), dhobis (washer-men), nais or hajjams (barbers), chiks (butchers), and faqirs (beggars).
