A look at the iconic IBM 5150

My dad was a chemistry teacher at a high school in the early 80's. This meant that he was the de facto systems administrator for the first school computer class... (logical thinking right?)
Anyway, this meant that during the 8 week summer break my dad brought this beastly 5150 home for study and me and my kid brother were allowed to play games on it.... alleycat, maniac mansion etc. So to me, a 5150 is equal to gaming, not to business machine in any shape or form.

I hated our IBM clicky keyboard as a kid. When you family computer is located where your TV is, you learn to despise the click. I was shocked that people have so much nostalgia for these. When we upgraded to a Pentium 2, the click keyboard was relegated to the basement somewhere, along with the PC Jr and the 486 it came with.

That high persistence monitor was even worse when it was new, cause phosphorus loses persistence over time (I think). But it had rock stable picture for static text.

I can resist the urge to have a 5150 :) If someone just had one and I was to just take it home then I would keep it safe.

Can't help but hear sammy hagar screaming "it's 5150 time!!" every time I see this computer. I know, I'm weird.
