The sound of that keyboard clicking is so relaxing.

Dude!
I remember typing in something just like this from BYTE magazine.
It returned the value of the key typed in the ERRORLEVEL variable.
So, then I could make interactive batch files.
I thought I was a god! :)

I made batch files with deeply nested menus, that mimicked a windowing program like SideKick.
People thought I was crazy to be making interactive batch files.

Of course, when I moved to Xenix, I went hog wild on shell scripts, with scripts over 10 pages long!
Oh man! That takes me back.
I've sent this link to my younger brother, who taught himself assembly language from a book I bought him.

Good times!

Nice ! It's good when these old systems are still in use sometimes... I have a collection of retrocomputers and have IBM PC/5150 as well, but I'm far from writing in Assm, only trying to learn C.)

Very interesting, I have no clue what any of this is that you are typing. The ONLY programming I know anything about is BASIC, I've never had an opportunity to learn any other kind of programming.
