Right at before the 6:00 mark the concept clicked for me of considering the light's interaction with the surface like that of a mirror and then you said the speculator was like a mirror and I was like YESSS!!! I got it LOL!! Good Stuff as always!!

I really appreciate your technical videos--even when they are a bit broader based than just comic coloring.
The paradigm and examples that you put together on lighting are EXCELLENT.
And here's another RN-turned-geek-coming back at you with support!

I have a much better idea of this now after watching your video. Just the other day I was thinking about how I didn't how the reflection worked. Thanks!

Great video! Thank you! It was very helpfull - the best on this topic I've found so far on youtube.

I still have a few questions in my head that I'm trying to figure out:

1. I wonder how specular reflections change depending on the characteristics of the light source. E.g. a "point" light versus a very diffused/broad light (think sky)?
2. Also, I suppose that materials/textures have more or less "leeway" when it comes to the exactness of the angle required? Some materials might require the exact angle, resulting in very sharp and small specular reflections, while other materials might not be that exact, resulting in more numerous and larger specular reflection zones?
3. I also wondered about the value and hue of specular reflections. It seems as if they don't pick up the local color at all? They have the color of the light source, somewhat reduced in intensity?

I might take a look at the book you've recomended (How to render). It seems to be a good compendium for understanding light and how it behaves on textures.

I’d like to learn more about how to color-pick specular highlights. They’re so bright, but I’m not sure what’s the best way to make them bright. I’m guessing it’s not just a matter of adding white to them.
