I used the Mew Glitch to get myself a bunch of underleveled pokemon to gen 7, such as a level 7 machoke, gengar, nidoking, nidoqueen, slowbro, and a level 8 magnezone. This game is broken, dude.
Also I used Toxic-Leech seed with my Venusaur to break the elite 4. it was fun.

Fair warning: Do NOT use any of those glitches if you want a long-term file! These glitches are known to eventually result in file corruption, forcing you to restart. I lost two save files this way, all the way back in the 90s. I had friends who lost save files as well. So, goofing off with them is fun and all, but if you're remotely serious about that save file, avoid the glitches.

For #19, Retro Game Mechanics Explained has an excellent explanation of why this happens. Basically, when the game is decompressing the Pokémon’s sprites, the glitched ones have sprites bigger than the game is expecting, causing the game to write data beyond the area reserved for decompression and all over the Hall of Fame data.
And for 23, this “same Pokemon as the last area you were in” property is what causes the Old Man / Missingno bug: when you do that tutorial, the game sticks your name in the “last area” data for some reason (probably because you’re controlling the Old Man in the battle instead of Red), so immediately going to Cinnabar Island and surfing there will make the game load a bunch of invalid data for the Pokemon encountered since the last location isn’t what the game expects it to be.

I saw a level 177 rapidash that I caught and named "Overpower". After 1 battle it deleveled to level 100. "Deleveled" is a palindrome.


Hard for someone who's only strong Pokemon are weak to Fire types (Venusaur and Articuno.)
