🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: Hi guys! My name is Alyona. I was born in Russia. I'm a musician. And I love art, makeup, fashion, style and beautiful environments. I love playing with makeup and fashion, but at the same time, I’m quite a minimalistic person. I don't like the idea of being fixated on the body too much. I have an alternative and unconventional viewpoint on beauty, the body types and face shapes. I love helping other women find their "it" and finally discover their beauty and boost their confidence.

I have several series on my channel that you might be interested in such as: Body Types, Contouring, Makeup History and Makeup Transformations. Also some random beauty hacks about skin care, hair, nails and beauty in general.

This is such great info! I also read that when films went from silent to talkies, they realized the lights made crackling sounds. Then they had to change the lights to new lights that were quiet. After that, they realized the makeup was wrong for the cameras + new lights (specifically, the foundation/base makeup was wrong). Movie moguls went to a chemist to create a makeup base for them. The chemist's name was Max Factor. The base makeup he created was called pancake makeup (I think he gave it that name). The actresses liked the pancake makeup so much that the makeup artists started noticing the makeup disappearing - because the actresses took it home. That's how Max Factor got his start in creating makeup and a new business!

I've always loved your very open-minded perspectives on makeup and techniques, but I'm now astonished of such wise connections you've made between the makeup industry, society, and the rise of technology, I'm blown away at your intuitiveness! You have truly revolutionized how so many of your viewers look at makeup

Another reason for the smokey eye being worn *outside* of the cinema was that the liner women were using had a smudgy quality, so over the course of an evening it would naturally smudge into the 'smokey' look characteristic of the time. Cinema makeup and street makeup were rather different to one another in the 20 and 30s, and women would not be wearing the grey/blue/green/yellow greasepaints or going for the exact cosmetic effects of the screen. Contouring beyond adding a little blush on the cheekbone (not below) certainly didn't take hold in the general population for ages.

Aly, marvellous video of yours!I'd just found your channel and I'm so interested -especially-in educational ones. Let me tell you that you're speaking English fluentlly, no much accent &I foresee you'll surely become a very famous You Tuber soon! About the silent film's era:may I tell you that ages ago I'd read twice that the first silent movie's "make-up" then, was dangerous for health...Apart from that, in order, to have white&black result for viewers, make-up face base+lips had to be blue and green coloured!!How funny! Certainly I'm a new subscriber! Thanks for your videos
