I must say that I am very impressed. Your explanations are so clear and to the point. It makes me want learn more. I am hooked on your teaching. I only hope the students in your physical class know how lucky they are to be thought by you. Many Thanks!!

As an android developer, I'm really excited to be able to develop for both platforms now that I'm learning from these videos.

Now that is a huge question! C++ and Objective-C are extensions of C. C# is an extension of C++ and Java. Android is not a programming language but it uses Java. Java is a brand new language but its similar to C.

On a technical level, Objective C is just a wrapper around C. NeXT Inc developed a front-end to translate Objective C to C back in the 80s. Its descendent is what Apple maintains today.

Java started out as a programming language for printers, not Smalltalk, sorry for any confusion. I didn't mean to imply Small Talk had anything to do with printers. :) I agree with your understanding, you are right on target with how these languages work together and have influenced each other.

@ 29:00 Little error: SmallTalk was never a programming language for printers (you're thinking of Postscript.) Although Xerox was a printer company, its PARC project was about creating a "virtual desktop" for office workers. SmallTalk was designed for creating Graphical User Interfaces, primarily. And objective C, from my study so far, is simply Smalltalk overlaid on top of C.

It's Gnu's C Compiler with a handful of Apple-specific modifications. As per the license, you can download the mods on Apple's open source site if you're interested but nobody ever bothers.

No offense to our foreign friends. But I just had to say how refreshing it is not to have to adjust to an instructor that speaks with a thick accent. That being said. I am taking an Objective-C class in a few weeks and lessons such as these are very helpful. Thanks.
