Welcome to The Wisdom of Odin! I’m Jacob Toddson, and I created this channel to explore ancient wisdom and spiritual practices from around the world. My journey began with Norse Paganism, and now I travel globally, uncovering knowledge on historical religions, shamanism, plant medicines, and various spiritual paths. Together, we explore how these ancient teachings can inspire and guide us toward a more balanced and meaningful future.

On this channel, I aim to foster unity and understanding across spiritual traditions, beyond boundaries of race, sexuality, gender, or politics. You’ll find an inclusive, open-minded space free from divisive content, drama, and bias. Join me as we discover and share the timeless wisdom that can heal and uplift us all.

Hey Jacob. Just want to point out here that you are a great guy. I know you get a ton of hate from other Norse pagan groups, but don’t let that bring you down.

We all love your content and appreciate what you do for the community.

Keep up the great work and continue being yourself 🤝

Based on my personal gnosis and previous study with a Northern Tradition shaman who was given the shamanic illness by Hel, Helheim and Valhalla and Fölkvangr etc. exist in real spirit worlds that shamans visit in visionary states of consciousness. Similar with spirit worlds from other cultures, e.g. Hades or Sheol or the Abrahamic heaven. Depending on your culture, what deities you serve, your wyrd, etc. you get called to a particular afterlife location upon death. One deity in each pantheon is responsible for reincarnating people when they're ready to fully let go of their past identity and move on, and that deity is Hel in the Norse pantheon. There are many tunnels connecting Helheim to Hades and other underworlds, and the major death deities cooperate with each other to get dead people to where they need to go. Given things like near death experiences and kuṇḍalinī awakenings (which is when the core life force or ego begins to disidentify with the body/mind in a spiritual death/rebirth process), I see little reason to give any credence to materialistic dismissals of the afterlife.

Talking about death have you scene the end scene of the Liam Neeson movie The Grey?

One of my all time favourite endings of a movie for two reasons.

1. Because it just reminds me of Odins final fight with Fenrir for obvious reasons

2. Also because it teaches us to face death without fear. To look it in the eye with courage as it approaches. That where we go after death is almost irrelevant because it’s out of our hands. All the matters is how we face it and we will be sent accordingly

Valhalla is just the posthumous reputation of a slain warrior. The concept of the warriors fighting, dying and being resurrected each day in Valhalla is a metaphor for having their stories told and retold by the living.

Viking afterlife is kinda like where you stay when you go to Disney world, everyone wants to stay at the Disney resort hotels that they advertise, But like myself I stayed in the Disney projects that no one talks about, these are cramped hotel rooms at about $200 a night and you weight in long lines in the morning for the buses to take you to the parks. You get the same park experience but your stay isn’t quite as nice.

i was raised atheist but i could always feel there was something after death. I think that when you die you can learn the unknown, your memory is all you leave behind, so be good, be loving, be kind.

I'd like to learn about reincarnation in Norse thought. I appreciate your explanation of the many after-death locations.

I would prefer to go where the dogs go. Dogs are preferable to people. Skal

There was no norse afterlife and I can explain that and how I know it in much less than four minutes. As a matter of fact stanza 76 makes no sense if there was. And what part of hamr, hugr, fylgia and hamingja are you suggesting goes to valhall? Soul is a christian concept. No soul, no afterlife.
