Deep bite is a malocclusion that occurs in the vertical plane of space. Some degree of vertical overlapping or overbite is a normal feature of human dentition. The deep bite in the permanent dentition may be caused by inherent factors or factors acquired during the life of that dentition.

Clear aligners have increased in popularity because of their aesthetic advantages in comfort compared with conventional fixed appliances. But treating deep bites with clear aligners has been perceived as difficult due to the patient's natural biting force aiding in posterior intrusion and the need to perform difficult and less predictable vertical movements like extrusion and intrusion.

In this course, we will review the etiology, the diagnostic and treatment planning of deep bite cases in order to achieve successful results in treating these cases with clear aligners.
